“A Passion for Energy Efficiency and Innovation” Is What Makes International Industrial Equipment Giant Atlas Copco The Best, Says Andrew Drummond, Key Account Manager For Atlas Copco New Zealand

As a leading name in the sale and supply of industrial products and solutions both in New Zealand and around the world, Atlas Copco is made up of the best in the business when it comes to customer service, maintenance, engineering and servicing of industrial technology.

An essential gear in their well-oiled machine is Andrew Drummond, Key Account Manager for Atlas Copco New Zealand, who says his work with the company is both satisfying and exciting.

“I started out with an apprenticeship in railways and spent ten years overseas working in maintenance for companies in Australia and the UK. I came back to New Zealand in January 1998 to work with Atlas Copco,” Andrew says.

With over 14 years’ experience in the compressed air industry, he says the company offers challenging but exciting work, with a steep learning curve, and has since spent over two decades with the company, playing a crucial role in ensuring Atlas Copco’s customers get the best possible service and quality.

“I’ve always had a passion for energy efficiency in the work I do, I’ve been heavily involved in that for at least twelve years now,” Andrew says.

As an accredited auditor with the Energy Management Association of New Zealand (EMANZ), he is tasked with ensuring the solution the client needs is always an energy efficient one, and says that Atlas Copco consistently delivers in that.

“Analysing, identifying savings, seeing the outcome, and saving on energy and operating costs…I get a lot of satisfaction from that,” he says.

Andrew has spent 21 years at Atlas Copco, and moved around a lot in the process, working in both Hamilton and Wellington, and has worked a wide variety of roles, such as service sales, sales manager, and now key account manager.

“I really enjoy my job, it’s a big part of my life. I live and breathe Atlas Copco. There’s a lot of innovation in the company, compressed air especially is a large part of the work we do and is essential for a lot of businesses,” Andrew says.

“We’re the best on the market, very innovative, energy efficient - every application is different, everything is set up to meet the customer’s demands, and we have a wealth of knowledge and experience both in New Zealand and overseas to ensure that.”

“I love my job, always have. I’m not someone who gets up and goes ‘Oh God, another day at work.’ I’m always excited to see what the day will bring, working at Atlas Copco.”
